        Questions & Answers

        What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is not just another hyaluronic acid (HA) injectable product available in the marketplace. It is based on advanced technology that engages with the body’s receptors and stimulates collagen growth and a much more natural reaction.
Unlike HA dermal fillers, Profhilo flows easily and distributes itself within the skin tissue, rather than being locally placed by an injection. The result is a healthier and more elastic dermis, which fills and volumizes more naturally.

        How does Profhilo work?

Profhilo works by stimulating of 4 variants of collagen and elastin through the slow release of HA.
This process results in significant skin tissue improvement. That is why we do not label Profhilo a skin booster as it also boasts an impressive tightening / lifting effect on the skin.

        Is Profhilo a dermal filler?

Profhilo is not a dermal filler nor a biorevitaliser – a new injectable category was opened by Profhilo – bioremodeling. The dual action of the two HA components of Profhilo is ideal for remodeling skin laxity.

Does Profhilo make HA dermal fillers redundant?

As mentioned before, Profhilo does not work like a dermal filler. Though it has a certain volumetric effect that can be experienced within a month this is to not to the extent of replacing HA fillers. It represents a different approach and can be used alone for a more natural look or as a complimentary treatment to increase the effect of any HA dermal filler.

        What makes Profhilo so unique?

Profhilo is truly unique when compared to anything else available on the injectable market right now. It does not contain any BDDE content. Being thermally cross-linked, it generates stabilised hybrid co-operative complexes of both H-HA and L-HA. Though it is high in HA (Hyaluronic Acid) content, it causes very little inflammation as it is coupled with pro-healing properties. These are backed by clinical studies. It represents a new concept in anti-ageing medicine with its breakthrough technology. It has a different biological behaviour with respect to H-HA and L-HA alone. One of the main advantages is longevity of its effect.

        How is Profhilo stabilized?

Using patented technology for the process, a hybrid cooperative complexes between high molecular weight HA (Hyaluronic Acid) and low molecular HA (Hyaluronic Acid) is achieved. That is without the use of chemical cross-linking compounds. These complexes mean an increased stability of HA (Hyaluronic Acid)   to enzymatic and mechanical degradation.

        Is Profhilo safe?

Thanks to its high purity rate and the absence of chemical additives it offers better safety and reduced side-effects. Since the Profhilo flows and distributes itself, there is no need for local anaesthetics as the recipient feels no pain.

        How is Profhilo injected?

The Profhilo is injected in only 5 points using a special technique to maximize treatment comfort.

What are the benefits for the patient?

The Hydro effect – when using Profhilo, L-HA is released slowly from the HA hybrid complexes thus not triggering the first inflammatory cytokines. This makes it very biocompatible. It also boosts patient comfort during and after treatment by providing vital hydration to the skin especially in the epidermis.

The Lift effect – H-HA in Profhilo provides a stable HA architecture in the dermis. This gives a volumetric effect.

These result in improved skin quality and skin hydration both in the dermis and epidermis. The increased production of endogenous HA (Hyaluronic Acid) and native elastin grants the skin a fresh, youthful look.

How many Profhilo treatments are usually recommended?

Profhilo treatment is given one month apart. So that means 2 sessions. If the skin still shows high levels of ageing, another session can be performed 2 months after the second treatment. For optimal results, the treatment cycle can be performed twice a year.
